With rapid technological innovation, a growing population and a changing climate, the way we generate and use energy must respond.

The North East has an innovative energy community that is responding, to contribute to new solutions that provide clean, secure, and accessible energy.

Within the broader Energy sector there are 2 key growing subsectors:

  • Offshore energy and subsea technology
  • Low-carbon heat

Each presents opportunity to drive economic growth and deliver more and better jobs.  

This toolkit focuses on the North East Energy sector, highlighting a range of job roles, skills, and routes into careers.

Dogger Bank Wind Farm

Dogger Bank Wind Farm in the North East will become the world’s largest offshore wind farm. Equinor is a broad energy company and will operate the wind farm on completion and during its expected operational life of 35 years.
