SEND and AP

Commited to supporting SEND and Alternative Provision schools to embed high-quality careers education that’s tailored, aspirational, and impactful.

Through targeted support, inclusive resources, and collaborative partnerships, we’re helping schools create pathways that reflect the unique strengths and ambitions of their learners.

Supporting SEND and AP

The North East Combined Authority, through North East Ambition, coordinates the North East Careers Hub - a thriving network of over 190 middle schools, secondary schools, special schools and FE colleges. This includes individual communities of practice (CoP) for both special schools and APs. The Careers Hub provides strategic support and expert guidance to careers leaders, helping them deliver inclusive, impactful careers education tailored to the needs of every young person.

In addition to individual support, the Careers Hub offers a rich ecosystem of professional development and collaboration. Careers leaders benefit from:

  • Regular local and regional network meetings and conferences
  • Targeted CPD and training opportunities, and
  • Access to the North East Ambition website, which hosts a wide range of resources, case studies, and links to specialist providers.

This work is closely aligned with the mayoral missions of the North East Combined Authority, supporting the vision to make the North East the home of real opportunity by embedding inclusive, high-quality careers education from the earliest stages - strengthening pathways for young people and driving long-term prosperity for employers and the regional economy.
