Providing expert guidance

Nobody knows your business like you do. Sharing your knowledge and expertise with government, and with the education institutions around you, will help to influence what is taught so that it is relevant to your business.

You could work with a college to design a course relevant to your business or be a school or college governor. Or you might contribute to the expert employer panels that shape technical education nationally or locally.

Explore resources below to find out how your business can get involved.

Ideally, we're looking for people who can volunteer as an Enterprise Adviser for at least a year and who could attend three termly meetings with the school or college and a minimum of two training sessions per academic year.

School governors

Schools need skilled people from the world of work on their governing boards more than ever, helping to set the strategic direction of schools while developing their own skillsets.

School and college governors and trustees make a valuable contribution to young people’s education, opportunities and futures. Governors and trustees play a crucial role in improving performance by providing support and challenge to the headteacher / principal and their leadership team. Governing boards that have a balance and diversity of knowledge, skills and experience enable it to be effective.
