The North East is already an important hub for research and innovation in solving challenges with energy. We are involved in world-leading projects such as offshore energy, renewables and the development of hydrogen technologies.
Our news reporters visit GE Energy and their work setting up wind turbines off the coast of Northumberland.
The focus on energy could connect to topics such as Climates, Seaside, My Locality, Mini-beasts, Electricity and Pollution through the geography, design technology and science curriculum. There may be also opportunities to link it to extra-curricular activities in school such as eco-council and school trips.
