Primary schools in County Durham, South Tyneside and Sunderland offered the opportunity to participate in £2.6m Department for Education (DfE) backed programme
The Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC) and North East Local Enterprise Partnership invites primary schools in County Durham, South Tyneside and Sunderland to be one of 300 primary schools nationally to be involved in Year 1 of ‘Start Small, Dream Big’ - a new career-related learning project.
This opportunity will run from March 2023 to March 2024 and aims to:
- Increase awareness and aspirations amongst primary aged children of the range of careers available to them in the future, as well as the pathways into them
- Challenge the stereotypes that limit children’s thinking about their future careers
- Develop a deeper understanding of the link between what children learn in school, the skills they need for the future, and the world of work
- Increase parental engagement in supporting children to think broadly about their futures.
The programme will also allow participants to address school priorities using career-related learning as a vehicle for school improvement, provide an excellent development opportunity for a member of teaching staff, and influence and shape future policy decisions on career-related learning within primary education.
