SEND Toolkit: Work Experience

Help SEND students to understand more about different sectors, job roles, and the workplace; and facilitate access to work experience opportunities. 

About this course

This suite of educational material is aimed at careers leaders and other education providers who are working with SEND students. The course is intended to help students:

  • understand more about work
  • access work experience opportunities
  • reflect on work experience 


The activites on this course are designed to help students understand more about:

  • their own skills, strengths, and personality traits
  • the value of teamwork
  • industry 'sectors' and specialisms
  • different workplace environments


The course is split into 8 modules, and we've provided a module overview, facilitator's guide, and worksheets (in both regular and large print) for each one. These can be downloaded individually below, or as a single zip file, here: 


Module 1: Who I Am

Ensure students consider the areas in which they would be comfortable attaining work experience.

Employer feedback form

Help employers to provide feedback about students who join them for work experience. This document encourages emplpyers to provide feedback on how students have worked towards their goals, how well students have demonstrated communication and teamwork skills, and whether they've been punctual and well-organised.
